Please sponsor our third team captainOn 25th June 2010, a group of 20 (16 walkers and 4 drivers) where I work (from GE Oil & Gas, Nailsea) will be attempting the Three Peaks Challenge. Described as one of the UK's ultimate challenges, the Three Peaks requires climbers to reach the top of the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales.
We begin with a morning ascent of Ben Nevis (1344m) before transferring to the Lake District and climbing Scafell Pike (978m) through the night. We then have an early morning ascent of Snowdon (1085m) to complete the challenge. With over 3000m of non-technical climbing, over 20 hours in a minibus, eating at strange times, walking through the night and hiking over rough ground, this truly is a challenge to remember.
The training for the event is very rigours! So far I completed 2 night walks and 1 Breacon walk. There are plenty more walks to follow as a group as well as lots of fitness training for myself including cycling to work, running and walking.
I have set up a justgiving.com web page, so that people can view my progress as well as sponsoring me. Please take a look and it would be wonderful if you could sponsor me. All donations will be going to the Childrens Hospice South West (They help and support children and their families who are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and are the only organisation in the South West to provide vital hospice care to those families. Some families go to them for palliative care, some for emergency care and many for planned respite and a rare opportunity for a break away. But there’s more to it than that. They provide a loving and caring place for every member of the families who stay with us. A place where everyone can begin to forget their worries for a while, be a family again and find expert help and support in facing an uncertain future.)
Any donations will be greatly received, any questions pop me an email.
Thanks for donating Jo Written 13/04/2010
