Last years winners beaten to the top prize at Lychett Sevens

The May bank holiday weekend saw two Frome Ladies Hockey Club squads travel to Lychett near Poole for fun and mischief for the Lychett Sevens hockey competition.

With inspired team names, squad one aptly named Frome Fairies; last year’s competition winners; lost out at semi final stage to local team, Beaminster. Keeping a clean sheet and scoring 18 goals in the four 30 minute matches in the early rounds, they found themselves in a penalty flick shoot out only to disappointingly go home in third place.

Happily, in their first outing to Lychett, Frome’ other squad, Pants on Fire; took the runners up position in their league when they were narrowly beaten by competition hosts, Poole. The team picked up their runners up awards in the Plate compietion.
