SEVEN UP FOR FROME!!!Frome 2nds 7 Mendip 3rds 0
Frome enjoyed their last home game of the season with a win against bottom of the league Mendip played in good spirits and with the sun shining. Attack was the order of the day and at times Frome seemed to be playing with six forwards. Jane Bullus opened her account from a short corner strike and then made it two from a goal mouth melee. Mendip fought hard and Esther Selway at sweeper battled for every ball, never letting her head go down. When a shot was stopped on the line from a Mendip foot, Andree Williams stepped up to take the ensuing flick which was duly converted. She also doubled her score when a first time shot from the top of the D thudded in after a quick side line take from Bullus. Frome were now playing with ease and Cicely Hunt and Becky Godfrey on the flanks were revelling in the space making telling passes on many occasions with great runs ably supported by Doris Peet and Georgie Ryan. Not to be outdone Dot Moore got on the end of a cross only to be found it had been disallowed and then when Frome were awarded another stroke Moore stepped up this time only to put the strike wide. Bullus completed her hat trick with another strike from a short and then Moore got on the score sheet when she touched in a cross from the right. Alice Gomes coolly dealt with any Mendip attacks well supported by Sally Tucker and Susan Foxwell. A real team performance from Frome who can go to Pucklechurch next week in a confident frame of mind.
