Frome 2nds back to winning ways!Frome 2nds 2 Chippenham 3rds 1
Frome resumed their league campaign after a long layoff for Christmas and the snow with a great victory over Chippenham. Frome settled quickly considering the majority of the team had not played for 6 weeks or more and looked the more likely of the two to score. Fran Slay made some great surging runs down the right ably supported by Alice Gomes and Andree Williams and with Frome winning plenty of short corners it seemed only a matter of time before they would score. The goal did indeed come from the right hand side when a through ball from Alice found Janie Bullus who managed to get the ball across the D for the outstretched Dot Moore to latch on the end of it. Chippenham fought back but with Ali Milton and Georgie Ryan both containing their forwards well Chippenham could find no way through Frome’s defence. Then against the run of play Chippenham slotted home and renewed by this started the 2nd half much stronger. For the early part of this half it looked like they were going to get the winner but with Frome repelling all the attacking options they then began to build attacks of their own. With time running out and all efforts on goal being saved it looked like a draw was on the cards. Janie missed from a couple of short corners and Dot pushed one right on to the keeper and it seemed that Frome had lost their opportunity. With two minutes to go though Fran made another great run down the right, driving in to the D to find Dot who managed to score her second and win the match for Frome. Brilliant team performance from all participants. everybody playing their part at some stage during the match.
