City of Bath 3rds 1 Frome 2nds 3 Frome started the new league season with a good win against newly promoted City of Bath. With a new look team due to unavailability and promotion of players Frome started well making a positive start and creating goal scoring opportunities. With the sun beaming down Frome played some great passing hockey with Cicely Hunt particularly prevalent on the right wing. Short corners were created but the City goalie thwarted any goal scoring chances which Frome created. Due to the new rules that have come in to force. at times there was bemusement from all parties when things did not go to plan but Frome stuck to the task and did not get despondent when City scored against the run of play.
Andree Williams equalised from a well struck shot on the break after a good interchange of passing between Tara Jesse, herself and Jane Bullus. Jane gave Frome the lead when again they caught City on the break and although both teams were beginning to wilt in the heat it was Frome who finished the stronger. Having taken the lead and control of the match Kirstie Scott, Andree and Tara all made more attacking runs causing problems for the City defence. From a goal mouth melee veteran striker Karen Moore got on the end of a cross to score and put the result beyond doubt. A great start for Frome who play away at Bath next week pushback 12.30pm | |
