Frome Ladies 2 : 0 Blandford & Sturminster Newton

This was a very hard fought match with end to end hockey from the off.  B&SN attacked from the start putting the Frome defence under pressure.  The Frome defence stood firm and marked tightly resulting in many through balls from B&SN going harmlessly off the back line.  Frome took the lead mid way through the first half after a quick break down the right wing resulting in the ball reaching Aileen Watson on top of the circle who picked her spot past the keeper in the bottom left corner of the goal.   B&SN responded quickly hitting Frome on the break, Carla Travis in the Frome goal made a splendid save to keep Frome a head leading into half time.  B&SN came out after the break looking to hit back quickly, but strong defending from Claire Edgerley and Hannah Couper thwarted their efforts.  Frome soaked up the pressure and hit B&SN on the break with some fantastic forward movement and penetrating runs from Sophie Elwood down the right hand side.  Frome scored their second goal from a short corner which Netty Pellow fired home leaving the B&SN goal keeper no chance.  This was a scrappy match which could have gone either way, the difference being Frome took their chances and came away with a very good 3 points from a team riding high third in the league.
