Frome XI 1 Mendip 4

Despite a fantastic start to the season last week Frome unfortunately could not capitalise on this against Mendip. Frome put pressure on themselves early on when Mendip scored the opening goal from a narrow angle. However Frome refused to let this worry them and endeavoured to fight back.  With some outstanding saves from Carla Travis and some good work through the middle, Frome regained and retained some possession. This was rewarded with an equaliser just before half time. A fantastic ball played by Netty Cayford from the right hand side into the circle allowing Aileen Watson to slot away the goal.

Second half saw Frome under pressure from the off, and after some good play Mendip scored a second goal, with a shot from the edge of the circle. A tired Frome did their best to raise their game and despite a good effort went behind by another two goals. Mendip’s defence remained impenetrable, and the game ended in a disappointing defeat for Frome.
