Frome 3rds 5 Devizes 3rds NilFrome gave an impressive away performance against Devizes 3rds, who so far had been unbeaten against Frome, in what can be said as one of their best matches played this season. Although a delayed start due to a missing Devizes keeper Frome were straight off from the mark with forwards Becky Godfrey and Nikki Lank to make a clear run to the D where Becky Godfrey slammed home an easy first goal. It didn’t take long for Becky Godfrey to make a clean shot across the D however Helen Keniston just missed the goal by inches. Devizes stepped up their game and was fast to take advantage of a loose ball however defender Hannah Richards and mid fielder Hannah Whitcombe were constantly locking down the fast, young players to steal possession with only a few saves needed by keeper Jo Payne. Midfielder Heather Anderson made a clean break to take the ball straight to the D but took a wide shot to then be picked up by Becky Godfrey minutes later with a following goal. The second half was dominated by Frome’s confident start and Frome took advantage of a short corner to score a third goal. Frome’s midfielders played advantage of passing up the wing and with an impressive crossing from Helen Keniston; Nikki Lank sealed the two final goals to leave Devizes 5 nil down at final whistle. The last game of the season will see Frome play Devizes again at home on the 17th April. Player of the match Helen Keniston | |
