Frome 3rd vs Bath Buccs 6

Frome 3rds 2: Bath Buccs 6 1

Frome had high hopes for this game knowing that a win would close the gap on the team above them. Stand in Captain Nikki gave a supporting team talk to rally her team. Bath made a fast start down the right hand side of the field hoping to breach Frome's defence. Frome's defence were strong and fought off the attack. Frome's midfield tried to take control with Ali S, Kiah and Becky G working hard making some vital interceptions. Becky G made space to pass to Becky M who couldn't quite connect to score Frome's opener. Bath came back at Frome with Frome's defence and keeper called in to action. Bath were awarded several consecutive short corners, with Alice and Kiah running out,Hannah and Pat made two goal line clearances. Bath took a shot at Frome's keeper Jo which she kicked out high straight to Frome's midfield. The ball was played up to Nikki for her to score Frome's opening goal. The play was end to end with Frome's whole team working tirelessly to keep their lead.

Second half, Bath came out looking for that equalizer with Frome's keeper saving and sweeper Pat clearing off the line. Frome knew they needed the second goal, great work from Helen and Becky G forced Bath to give up a penalty corner, Frome were unlucky not to score. Eventually the breakthrough came and Frome's Captain Nikki got the second goal. Frome knew they still had to mark their players and fight for the ball but Bath were coming back at them. Frome's defence and keeper were forced in to some vital challenges and saves. Bath were rewarded a succession of penalty corners when Frome's defence was eventually breached and Bath pulled a goal back. With ten minutes still to go Frome knew they had to keep Bath at bay. The whole Frome team ran, marked and fought for the win until the final whistle blew for Frome victory.
