Frome Hockey 3rd 0 - 1 Frys 3rdOn Saturday was the first league game of the season, Frome 3rd played against Fry 3rd in a brilliant and exciting match.
The first half was dominated by Frys trying to get a goal past Frome's goalie Jo Payne, but time after time she saved the ball from entering the back of the net. With excellent defence from Alice Harnden, Heather Anderton, Tilly marsh and with Pat Burns as sweeper it stayed at 0-0 for the first half.
The second half of the match both Frome and Frys had equal opportunities, with Frome using the wide spaces to pass the ball up through the mid field, and Hannah Whitcombe taking full advantage of the run up the wing and making some fantastic crosses over to the forwards.
Unfortunately 10 mins before full time Frys scored with a cracking goal at the back of the net. With none of their motivation lost, Frome attacked till the whistle. A great game to start the season.
Man of the match was given to Heather Anderton for outstanding play.
